E9 Quarter 2 Web Project

My Home Page

Overview

For my semester project, I learned how to build a website using Adobe Dreamweaver. I first started out with a pre-made template created by the teachers, then I started putting in a photo of myself along with entering my"elevator pitch" assignment where I was to create an "elevator pitch" describing myself and my talents. I then created a second page with my best projects from the semester. I included one of my animations, and my chase scene video. Once that was done, I put in some web links like my blog, my high school website, and the e-Com website. Once all of that was finished, I began to design the page by changing the text colors and changing the fonts. Once that was all done, I took a screenshot of my home page and my projects page.

What Did I Learn?

My Projects, or "best of" page
First of all, I learned how to make a website without using a website like Wix. It's astonishing to me that I created my own website through Adobe Dreamweaver. I also leaned more about codes and what some of the codes mean. At first, the coding looked like a big, complicated, big bunch of weird nonsense, but as I started learning what some of it meant, the code wasn't as complicated or a whole bunch of weird nonsense. Code, from what I learned, is like any other language. At first it won't make sense, but as I learned it, it started making sense and I started to understand it better.

My Opinion

Overall, I think I did pretty well. Some of the coding was a bit tricky when it came to stylizing the links, but once I figured that out, everything else was easy. I really enjoyed this project, and I would probably do it again just for fun. learning about code was one of the more essential focuses of this project, and I enjoyed it. Honestly, I had a grand time with this project and look forward doing a similar one in the future.

Chase Scene

Pre-Production

Coming up with three ideas was easy for the group I was with due to ideas thought of ahead of time. Many of the ideas included a thief. We finally decided to do a museum chase scene with lots of comedy. This project was really exciting to film, and be in. I learned that having a bit of fun behind the scenes is okay and makes the project more enjoyable to work on with others. The enjoyment behind the scene shines through in the project through the comedy and the action scenes.

Scouting and Filming

Scouting our location was very easy due to everybody's flexibility with locating possible settings for scenes. The filming bit was easy as well due to a great director and the actor and actresses very very open to listening and everybody had an open mind.
I was assistant Director and "Cop" 2 in this project. We didn't know who would be who for a long time. We agreed that our director would be Steven due to him knowing what he wanted, and his great leadership skills. I would be assistant director since . my part in the film wasn't as big. Ethan was the main Cop who was the stereotypical lazy guard. Anna was the thief due to her accessibility to black clothing.  I wouldn't do anything different with this project due to how exciting it was to film, and be in. A lot of fun took place behind the scenes which was one factor as to why this project was a blast.

Editing

I used Adobe Premier Pro for editing. I have used Adobe three times now, and it is easy to use. However, I did have an issue where I thought I lost all my work. All the clips said "Media Offline" and I closed out of Adobe to find my folder on the school server. It wasn't in the spot it normally was, so I called the teacher over. Luckily, Anna, who was working across from me, found my folder. I moved my folder back to its normal spot, and found my project. I did have to come in during lunch to work on the project to catch up to where I was before it went "offline". One thing I can do better is save my project more often.

Overview

Team collaboration was awesome. We were having fun, but staying on task as well. The director did an awesome job politely criticizing what the actor and actresses can do better. The actor did a great job portraying a lazy guard, and the thief did a marvelous job adding comedy to the scenes. I did a good job of being funny and serious at the same time.

AB Sequence

Shot Sizes and Sequencing

The six main shots for photography and video making are very crucial in order to make a good film. Each shot adds a certain part to a story whether it is giving us details of the setting or showing us certain emotions of a character. Along with shot sizes comes sequencing. Sequencing is also vital to film making. If certain clips were placed randomly together, the story in the video makes no sense. Sequencing makes the story fit like puzzle pieces. With these two components, anything can happen.

Brainstorming

Our idea for this project of sequencing was to do a thriller or horror chase scene. The idea of a chase scene was shot down by the teacher, so I worked around the chase scene to make our project more of a horror or thriller. Instead of a chase scene, the "victim" was to run towards safety while the "killer" can teleport anywhere. This still gave the impression of a chase without any chasing taking place. This worked better than a chase scene due to the fact that the "killer" can teleport anywhere. This gives the audience a sense of dread by reason being nowhere is safe.

Editing

For editing, I used Adobe Premier Pro. The goal was to try to cut the runtime to thirty seconds, but if needed, we could go longer than thirty seconds. Editing was easier this time around because I knew what certain things did. This time, I learned how to make a Title shot.
The title shot was interesting due to the possibilities of color and style an editor could add to the title slide.

Overall

the collaboration with a new team was interesting. The variety of skill in this new group was evident due to the two other people's knowledge in the thriller/horror genre. I have not seen any horror movies, so their knowledge benefitted the group as a whole.
I did not think this was the best video I made, but it is still good for a beginner.

How to Print a Document

My latest project in E-com was an actual video on how to print a document from the computer. I worked with three other people, which was fine for me. We first began learning about different shot sizes for photo shooting and video shooting. Once we had the basics down, my team and I started writing out our storyboard on Google Docs along with possible shot sizes. Once we finished the Google Doc, we drew out our shots on paper with directions and what was happening in the shot.

Here is our first shot in the library. The "actor" just walked in.

After writing out all our directions, we tested different shots to see what we liked, and what would work. The team and I made separate Google Slides presentations explaining where we were, and what was going on.   When we taking photos, I didn't dress like my usual self due to Halloween being on the same day we were taking photos. Luckily, we weren't filming that day.
We had six different shots for our soon-to-be-filmed video. One is of me walking into the library, one of me at the computer, one of my hands typing,  a shot of where the print buttons were, and one of me retrieving the printed document.

Me at the computer.
This shot is known as and Over The Shoulder shot.
After the photos, the team and I started filming, and I was in regular clothing this time. Most of our original shots were really good, so reshooting wasn't a big issue for us.

Editing

For editing, everyone used Adobe Premier Pro, including me. I shortened clips, added royalty-free audio, and exported my video to YouTube. I didn't add any title slides because my video was already at 30 seconds, which was the goal.

Thoughts

As the "actor" in this video, I had to be able to take some criticism in order to make the video better. There was a lot of communication that needs to take place when doing a video so everyone knows what is going on. Using Adobe Premier was easy for me, although, trying to export the video properly was a little tricky. What I would do different is instead of doing the same idea for everyone, have two or maybe three different ideas for the video to get more variety upon critiquing the videos as a class. Also, have "assigned jobs". One person is the director, one is the editor, and one be the "actor". See how this can be a bad idea, but gives students a chance to experience what it is like to be an actual director, or editor.

10 Words Animation

The Design

i first came up with a list of words that best described me. After that, I used adobe Photoshop to animate the words. I don't like it when people use one color or shade of each word when it comes to these types of things, so I used a variety of colors and shades.

Here's my animation

Extroverted Side

As I mentioned before, i love children, and care for them deeply. Children love to laugh a lot, so in order to keep them happy, i do random things like walk silly or state obvious facts like "Food is edible" at random times. I love to talk to children as well.

Introverted Me

I do need some time to myself just lay back, and calm down. So that's why I said I was introverted. I love to read as well, and everywhere you look, there is something to read. Sometimes it's nice to look around and see what's going on.

Career Cruising

Not to long ago, I took a quiz asking me about my interests for possible careers I can choose from. The quiz had thirty-six questions and five answers ranging from "Dislike very much" to "Like very much". When the quiz was over, my top results were all teaching jobs, but I also had some interesting careers in my results as well that pertain to Ecom.
Here's an example of Graphic Design. Other
examples include Business Logos

Graphic Design And Ecom

The one career that most interested me was Graphic Design. I love to draw and create. Other reasons include: Graphic Design is a category my school teaches in Ecom, as well as animation, so I get a head start in the Graphic Design business, and I can create my own designs for clothing and other accessories if I wanted. I also know adults that do graphic design for a living, so I have outside resources that can help me grow and build my skills in graphic design.
I also got Animator, Computer Animator, Director, Web Designer, and Special Effects Technician.

Other Results

Besides graphic design, I got computer animator, animator, director, web designer, special effects technician, and set designer. Most of these are taught in one or two fields of Ecom which is great because like with graphic design, I get a head start on learning about the business and what to do.
Other careers I saw were high school, middle school, elementary, special education, and music teacher. I also got Teacher assistant, acting instructor, early childhood educator, choreographer/ dance instructor, ESL teacher, and Foreign language instructor. As you can probably tell, I like teaching. However, I don't understand how i got Dance/ Acting Instructor because i don't even do dance or theater.

Google Sketchup House

My most recent project In E-com was to build a house in Google Sketchup. Google Sketchup is a program run by Google, and i gives users the ability to build whatever comes to their minds. In my opinion, it's like Minecraft, but with curves.  The controls are pretty simple and easy for beginners, such as myself, to use and help them better understand how to create objects in a 3D computer world.
This is the front of the house on the website
To start, I found a real house that was for sale on a website called House plans. I first started designing one house, but I gave up because it was too difficult.  So I found another house. It seemed pretty simple and easy, so I started recreating it in Google Sketchup. Everything was going fine. I knew how to use most of the tools, and the tools id didn't know how to use, I never used.
Once the basic layout was set, I started running into some trouble. I spent way too much time on two windows because Google Sketchup was giving me a hard time, and felt like being a rebel, and not do what I wanted it to do. I couldn't create a simple, easy, little window because the tools wouldn't do what I wanted them to do. I was pretty frustrated, and upset. I eventually dealt with it, and found a way to create the windows, but it still was agonizing.
After I was done with the two windows, pretty much everybody in my class was done, and I knew i was behind. Being behind makes me feel like I have to do more work than I really need to do, and I tend to rush things, and I'll get flustered if others try to bother me while I'm working and trying to focus. It's not good for anyone if I am or feel behind. Luckily, I did finish and when I did i realized I wasn't that far behind everybody else.
My seamless stone texture
When I did finish, I texturized the house. That means I just put colors and textures on my house. It wasn't too difficult. In fact it was the easiest part of the project. Part of this project was to find a seamless texture on the internet. I did, and it is absolutely beautiful because gray stone is obviously prettier than diamonds.
Overall, I didn't hate this project, but I wasn't fond of it either. If I could do it again, I wouldn't because I thought was going to lose my sanity trying to create those two windows, and I don't  want to go through that again, but if I absolutely had to do it again, then I would change it where the students can choose to create their own house, or find one online, and not do an exact recreation of it, but change it to where there some similarities but the student's creation is still its own thing.

Sidewalk Chalk

    Symbolism

Over the three days that my team and I worked on the sidewalk chalk project, we first learned about symbolism and the history of symbolism. Symbolism has been used for millions of years as a way to communicate a story or an event. After the team and I looked at multiple symbols and their meaning, we all chose one that represented who we were. I chose to create a dolphin due its meaning. Dolphins symbolize love for children. I love to be around children, and playing with them, so it made sense for me to pick the dolphin. I also chose the color blue because blue represents water, peace, and being calm. I'm a very easygoing person who's usually calm, so that's why I picked blue.
My team and I drawing our symbols

The Process

It wasn't easy coming up with an idea to combine all of our symbols together. Four of us, including me, chose a symbol that can be found in nature, while the other member chose a rope, which would be difficult to combine. Our decision was to create all our symbols in one, big nature scene. The fifth member's symbol would be the frame of our nature scene, and we would have the animals near their natural domain.

The Experience

The team experience was good. We all listened to each other's ideas and opinions. We all worked independently and together at the same time, which was something that I've never experienced before. In the end, there would be nothing that I would change about this event.
